A triple and double bogey put the stumbling blocks on Stephanie Meadow’s opening round at the Lotte Championship as she fell to a three-over 75.
Thailand’s Natthakritta Vogtaveelap and Sweden’s Frida Kinhult share the lead on six-under after a pair of 66s.
“Yeah, it was very solid. Nothing crazy really happened. Yeah, just throughout the day tried to hit some fairways, and then I think I hit most greens, which is helpful in this wind,” said Kinhult.
“So, yeah, just tried to stay patient out there shot by shot for real in this wind. A lot of the math in my head, so probably going to fall asleep pretty good tonight.
“Yeah, super happy with the start and pumped for the rest of the week.”
Meadow, who tied the knot last week shares 92nd place and has her work cut out to make the halfway cut.
The Jordanstown native started steadily with a bogey on the second and a birdie on 5 before a chastening triple bogey seven on the eighth saw her turn in 39.
Meadow responded well with four pars and a birdie on 13 before shooting herself in the foot again with a double bogey on the par-4 17th. She stopped the bleeding with a closing birdie.
Play was suspended due to darkness, remarkably with one player due to return to finish her final hole of round one.
