Matthew McClean will tee off in Sunday’s final round of the Azalea Invitational in a share of fourth place as he gets some competitive action in before the Masters in a fortnight.
McClean is on six-under-par after rounds of 71, 67 and 69 and nine shots behind PJ Maybank III who has opened up a four shot cushion on Callahan Keever in second place on -15.
The Malone native carded four birdies, an eagle and four bogeys at the Country Club in Charleston.
McClean will be one of four Irish players competing at the Masters at Augusta National alongside Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry and Seamus Power.
His US Mid-Amateur victory over Hugh Foley at Erin Hills last year also earned him a place in the US Open, which will be played at The Los Angeles Country Club from June 15-18.
