Jonathan Caldwell looks to be tuning up nicely ahead of the new season and will take a one shot lead into the final round of the European Pro Golf Tour’s Lo Romero Open.

The Clandeboye pro, who fired a magical 59 last month on the Annesley links at Royal County Down, added a four-under 68 to his opening 65 to head the field by a shot at 11-under par.

The former Scandinavian Mixed winner on the DP World Tour holds status on the Challenge Tour for 2023 but will hope his starts come sooner rather than later to take advantage of a real purple patch of form.

Caldwell has carded 13 birdies over the first two days but has Irish company in close attendance with the remarkable Patrick Keeling once again flying the flag just two back at nine-under par.

Unsurprisingly, after rounds of 69 and 66, the Roganstown star leads the amateur section by a full nine strokes heading into the final round.
