Rowan Lester has been solid, unspectacular but consistent in the opening three rounds of First Stage (Section B) of Asian Tour Q.

The Hermitage man remains in 19th place after a hat trick of one-under 71s at Blue Canyon Country Club. His three-under total is seven shots adrift of joint leaders Chonjarern Baramithanaseth and Vanchai Luangnitikul.

Lester opened with a birdie before stumbling to a double-bogey six on the par-4 8th. He responded instantly with a birdie on the ninth to turn as he started on two-under-par.

After six straight pars to open his back nine, Lester finished with a birdie, bogey, birdie stretch to keep his hopes of making the Final Stage alive.

Tullamore’s Stuart Grehan shot an encouraging round of 68 to move to five-over, but unfortunately it was not enough to keep his card hopes alive as he missed the final round cut by the minimum.

Having bogeyed the fourth, the 29-year-old strung together four birdies to shoot up the leaderboard but ultimately he came up a shot shy.

Kerry’s Michael Young also bowed out on seven-over.
