The Hermitage’s Rowan Lester maintained his position inside the top-20 at the First Stage of Asian Tour Q-School (Section B) in Blue Canyon Country Club.

Successive rounds of 71 have Lester at two-under-par and in a share of 19th place, eight shots off the pace set by Chonjarern Baramithanaseth heading into the weekend.

Lester opened with a birdie at the first before recovering from dropped shots on 3 and 5 with two birdies on the sixth and ninth to turn in 35.

The back nine was solid if unspectacular from Lester who carded a bogey on 11 but got the shot back with a birdie on 16 to push himself back into the top-20.

Kerry’s Michael Young and Tullamore’s Stuart Grehan have a mountain to climb to progress to the Final Stage from six and eight-over respectively.

Young followed up and opening 73 with a damaging 77 while Grehan also shot a 77 in round two after an opening 75.
