Leona Maguire’s golf clubs have arrived, finally… and she is looking to round off her 2022 in style at the LET season-ending Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España at Alferini Golf.

Maguire was set for a quick turnaround after a runner-up finish at the CME Group Tour Championship last week but her clubs had other ideas as they got lost in transit on the way to Spain.

The Cavan native was seriously impressive in Naples, Florida last week after a blistering 63 saw her tie eventual winner Lydia Ko heading into the final round before the New Zealander edged to a two-shot win on a day where Maguire didn’t have her best stuff.

“It was a fantastic way to end the LPGA season last week, it would have been nice to finish it off with a win, but Lydia played some unbelievable golf last week.”

The 27-year-old has only played five LET events this year – her last being a T4 at the KPMG Women’s Irish Open – and ranks 65th in the Race to Costa del Sol.

While she can’t win the season-long prize, Maguire is targeting a second professional title and a first LET gong.

“It’s nice to be back in Spain and on the LET with the last event to finish the season. It was a quick turnaround, I got here on Tuesday morning and my clubs got here Tuesday night.

“I played the Pro-Am today and it was nice to get a full look at the course, it’s an interesting venue this week. We’ll give it our best shot and hopefully we can finish off the season in style.”
