In the latest segment of ‘The Match’ Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods will team up to face Jordan Spieth and Justin Thomas according to various reports.
The news was first reported by The Fried Egg and the match will be broadcast on December 10th at Pelican Golf Club and will be the seventh iteration of the contest.
Woods who competed in the inaugural instalment back in November 2018 will make his third appearance having also teamed up with Peyton Manning against Phil and Tom Brady in 2020 which provided some much needed entertainment during the Pandemic.
McIlroy, Spieth and Thomas will be making their first appearances in the contest while JT did assume a commentator role in 2020.
McIlroy, Thomas and Woods were part of a similar charity-themed exhibition at Payne Valley Golf Club in September 2020.
McIlroy has recently returned to world number one in the world for the ninth time in his career while Tiger hasn’t played competitively since potentially waving goodbye to the Open Championship at the 150th edition in St Andrews last July.
Spieth and Thomas have formed a sensational partnership at Ryder Cup and Presidents Cup level, one which will undoubtedly be at the fore for successful US sides in the future.
The pair recently went 4-0-0 in the Presidents Cup.
The Match will be broadcast by Turner Sports.
