David Carey is one shot outside the qualifying positions at the halfway stage of Korn Ferry Q-School Stage Two at the Plantation Course in Florida.

Carey has shot successive rounds of 68 to move to six-under and a share of 22nd with seven-under currently good enough for the top-18.

It was a similar story to round one where the Dubliner turned a frustrating day into a good one to keep his hopes of progression alive.

Carey, an unlikely qualifier for the 150th Open Championship in St Andrews this year has opted to try and ply his trade on the Korn Ferry Tour and should he progress to the Final Stage it would clash with Stage Two of DP World Tour Q-School.

After opening his second round with eleven successive pars, the Darwin Escapes professional birdied three of his next four to ignite his day and remain in the mix.

Birdies on 12, 13 and 15 saw him home in 33.
