Bryson DeChambeau had a lucky escape with the gallery rope to the left of the 14th fairway at the latest LIV Golf event in Chicago.

He might be as big as a WWE wrestler but whereas the likes of Hulk Hogan managed to negotiate three ropes guarding the ring for the entirety of their careers, DeChambeau got all tangled up in one attempting to return to the fairway after nearly holing his approach to the par-4.

“Off with his head” came the call from the Saudi series commentators without a hint of irony; DeChambeau dropping to one knee, crying out ‘Oh my God, what the f*** guys?’ as the rope betrayed him.

When asked if he was alright, Bryson answered, “No! I can’t see out of my right eye right now.” Then after a few seconds pause, he let out another angry cry of “sh*t!” swiping himself with his towel as he struggled to regain his composure.

Miraculously, DeChambeau would recover to make birdie on the hole before blinking his way to a tied-8th finish while banking $576,250 for his troubles.

Aussie Cameron Smith won the event and the $4m first prize cheque. You can watch Bryson’s travails in the video clips below.
