Scottie Scheffler will take a one shot lead into the final day after play was suspended due to inclement weather during the third round of the Tour Championship in East Lake.

Rory McIlroy will return to complete the final two holes of round three from three shots back after he moved to fifteen-under-par through sixteen holes.

McIlroy carded four birdies, an eagle and just one bogey on the fourth through sixteen holes of his third round.

As it stands the two-time FedEx Cup champion has dragged himself into the mix to make it a hat trick of titles at just four shots back, although Scheffler has six holes to play of his third round.

The Holywood native started quickly with birdies on the second and third holes before his only dropped shot of the day came on the fourth.

The four-tie major champions lit uo Saturday with an eagle three on the 6th before a birdie on 8 saw him turn in 31.

A quieter back nine saw McIlroy card six pars and a birdie on 13 to close the gap to four on –13 before play was halted due to inclement weather. This came after round three was delayed an hour due to poor weather.

Xander Schauffele was one behind Scheffler on –18 while Sungjae Im occupied third on sixteen-under.
