John Murphy couldn’t make a move up the leaderboard on Saturday at the Dormy Open as he fell outside the top-20 on moving day in Sweden.

The Kinsale man could only find three birdies but also as many bogeys in a level-par 72 in his third round at Österåkers Golfklubb in Stockholm to drop down to 25th in the standings heading into the final round.

Murphy turned in level-par after a birdie at the par-five fifth negated a bogey at the par-four third, and he would do exactly the same on the back nine as his birdie at the par-five 13th cancelled out a bogey on the par-four 10th.

And the 25-year-old would finish the same way, a bogey at the par-four 17th immediately rectified by a birdie at the par-five 18th to at least ensure he wouldn’t finish over-par, which could also help his Road to Mallorca placing, Murphy currently projected to go up to 26th.

Meanwhile, Finland’s Lauri Ruuska was not as impressive in round three as he was on the first two days but he still maintained his lead heading into the final round, although it has been cut to just one shot.

The 28-year-old, who started the day 11-under, had five bogeys and an eagle in his first 10 holes, which saw him caught at the top by Norway’s Jarand Ekeland Arnoy, who set the pace with a five-under 67 to reach 11-under-par.

However, Ruuska managed to claw back the deficit with four birdies on his way back to the clubhouse for a one-under 71 to move to 12-under-par and he will start the final day one ahead of Arnoy.

Sweden’s Tobias Edén and Spain’s Emilio Cuartero Blanco are also in the mix in a share of third at 10-under-par, with Mikael Lindberg and Max Rottluff rounding out the top-five at nine-under.
