Shane Lowry and Seamus Power are being well backed to revive their hopes of a big payday in the prestigious FedExCup Playoffs as the race for the lucrative prize of $18m hots up in Delaware this week.

Both Irish players need a strong result to haul themselves back into contention after they both dropped out of the top 30 in the FedEx points list following the St. Jude Championship last week.

Only the top 30 in the standings progress to next week’s Tour Championship finale at East Lake in Atlanta, but Lowry (38th) has been clipped into 30/1 from 33/1 by BoyleSports for the BMW Championship this week, while Seamus Power (37th) is a 70/1 shot from 80/1 to land a timely second tour victory.

FedEx St. Jude winner Will Zalatoris has been backed into 12/1 from 16/1 to win again just a week after his maiden victory, but Rory McIlroy is set to tee it up as favourite at 9/1 despite missing the cut in Memphis last week.

Lawrence Lyons, spokesperson for BoyleSports said:“Those just below the top 30 line really need a big week and maybe that’s why we’re seeing an increase in support for both Shane Lowry and Seamus Power. The incentive is huge and Lowry in particular will keep us interested this week after being well backed to rediscover his winning form at the perfect time.”
