Leona Maguire has officially cracked the world’s top-20 on the Rolex women’s rankings following her breakthrough win on the LPGA Tour at the Drive On championship over the weekend.

The Cavan star equalled her 54-hole career-low tally for an 18-under par winning total and a three shot win over Lexi Thompson in Florida.

Now officially the world number 20, although Maguire will rightly enjoy her first win on the Tour with three weeks until the LPGA’s Asian-Swing commences in Singapore, the ever-grounded 27-year old is hell-bent on finding more improvements in the coming weeks, all too aware that those names atop the Rolex rankings were missing from last week’s field at Fort Myers.

“Yeah, I mean, we’re still only in February, few days into February, with a lot of work still to do for the rest of the season,” Maguire said.

“So, more of the same. I mean, we still have a few things to work on. It’s by no means perfect. I still feel like I could have played better golf, definitely holed more putts.

“Yeah, just keep trying to improve all the time. Obviously Jin Young and Lydia [Ko] and Danielle [Kang] weren’t here this week, so just keep trying to raise my game and work my way up and try to put myself in this position as many more times as I can.

“It’s a nice position to be in here on a Saturday, I guess normally Sunday evening. So do everything I can to try and make it back here again this year.”
