Ronan Mullarney will return to a happy hunting ground this week as he begins his preparations for the step up in class that is the Challenge Tour.
Mullarney will play in two Toro Tour events in Southern Spain, beginning on Tuesday after enjoying glittering success on the tour in previous years. The Galway man is the only three-time winner in the tour’s four-year history and he is joined by fellow pro, Karl McCormack and amateurs, Jamie Butler, Jamie Foley, James Temple and Eoin Freeman.
Mullarney secured full status on the Challenge Tour this year after winning the Alps Tour Order of Merit and he will warm up in Spain ahead of next month’s South African swing which kicks off the Challenge Tour season.
“We have had a few other guys claim multiple victories on the Toro Tour, Challenge Tour player Oliver Lindell claimed his second Toro Title just before Christmas shooting a course record equalling -10 round, but Ronan is still the first and only player in our history to claim three wins on Toro Tour, making him the current Toro tour GOAT. It’s going to be a thrill to see if he can go on to claim one more in the next few weeks” said Calum McGregor the Toro Tournament director.
“We are really pleased that he is coming back to Spain and using the Toro Tour in preparation for his Challenge Tour season coming up. He knows we are like a big family here at Toro, and I cant wait to see Ronan going head to head with all the new players we have this season. We have got players coming in from all around the world and some really good local pros competing, so he will have a tough bunch of competitors to go up against.”
