Irish golfers Mike O’Halloran (East Clare Golf Club) and Michael O’Brien (Spanish Point Golf Club) impressed at the Audi quattro Cup World Final, claiming third place in Group B at the Al Mouj Golf Resort in Muscat, Oman. The Audi quattro Cup World Final concludes the 2023 tournament.
Audi quattro Cup Irish National Champions O’Halloran and O’Brien navigated a fiercely competitive playing field in Group B to post a score of 67 points, with Team Australia claiming the win with an impressive 80 points, whilst Team Italy placed second with 68 points.
The 33rd Audi quattro Cup saw 31 teams from 29 countries taking part at the World Final, having qualified from their respective national tournaments. The competition was hosted at the Al Mouj Golf Course, Muscat, Oman. The links style course, designed by International golfing legend Greg Norman offered a challenging yet rewarding game with spectacular wildlife and views of the Indian Ocean and Hajar Mountains.

Competition took place across two days with one practice day, which offered golfers an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the course and acclimatise to the warmer conditions. Following competition, golfers and their guests were treated to an impressive trick-shot show by trick-shot World Champion Geoff Swain. The prize-giving took place on Monday evening at the Kempinski Hotel, Muscat, MC’d by Geoff Swain. Geoff hosted each evening event across the four days including Q&A discussions with former Formula One driver Allan McNish, former professional Soccer player Roy Makay and Andy Proudman and Piers Ward of ‘Me and My Golf’.
The Audi quattro Cup is a team-based competition with each team consisting of two players and is open to Audi customers and their chosen teammate. The maximum handicap is 36 (index) per player and 56 (index) per team. The handicap difference between the players in a team must not exceed 20.
