Lauren Walsh took advantage of another quick start as she cracked the top-10 heading into the final round of the Andalucia Costa Del Sol Open De Espana.

Walsh carded a 67 to climb to eight-under-par and into a share of tenth place and she will be looking for another low round to end her rookie campaign on the Ladies European Tour and give her some momentum heading into the Final Stage of LPGA Tour Q-School.

The Castlewarden woman rolled in four birdies in her first seven holes including three in a row from the 2nd. But unlike yesterday, a bogey on the 8th didn’t stall her momentum and she picked up two more birdies on her way to the club house on 15 and 17.

Walsh is still nine shots off the pace set by Carlota Ciganda but she is targeting a fifth top-10 of her season in Europe.

“Always good to get off to a great start. I was hitting my irons well and putting nicely. Good to have a fast start and I capitalised on it. Missed the green on 11 and 12 but my short game backed me up and I made two really good par saves,” Walsh explained after missing just three greens on Saturday.

“I knew I had a couple of chances coming in and I have been putting nicely this week so I was hoping to roll in one or two and obviously did it on 15. Hit one in nice and close on 17.

“It’s nice to jump up the leaderboard a little bit and hopefully more of the same tomorrow.”

Spanish Solheim Cup star Ciganda holds a four shot lead on home soil on seventeen-under-par ahead of Manon De Roey.
