Best of luck to all the participants but particularly Suzanne Corcoran (Portumna) who will begin her defence of the Irish Senior Women’s Close Championship at Monkstown  today..

Having defeated Maria O’Reilly (Headfort) on the final green last year at Bunclody Golf and Fishing Club, Corcoran begins her 2018 Championship alongside Pat Doran (Donabate) and Catherine Reilly (The Heath).
 
Six of the victorious 2017 Home International team will also be in action including Gertie McMullen (The Island) who has won the title twice in recent years.
 
Competitors will play 36 holes stroke play on today and Wednesday with 16 players qualifying for the Championship Matchplay and the next 16 qualifiers qualifying to compete for the Plate.
