For the third successive match, Ireland produced a strong afternoon singles session to book their place in the Championship match at the Men’s Octagonal tournament in Spain.

Ireland comfortably saw off the Netherlands in a winner takes all clash, edging the morning foursomes before pulling away in the afternoon to secure a 6.2-2.5 victory and advance to the final where they will meet Italy.

Sean Keeling and Jack Murphy linked up for the first point of the morning with a 4&3 foursomes win before Jack Hearn and David Shiel won by the same margin as Ireland took a 2-1 lead into the afternoon.

Jack Hearn put daylight between the teams with a 6&5 win in his singles match to cap off an excellent day for the Tramore man.

Keeling produced five birdies in a blistering back nine to secure a 1UP win on the 18th while Donnacha Cleary of Tipperary cruised to a 5&4 win.

Murphy came from 1DN with two to play to secure a crucial half point while Shiel won on the 18th to ease the Boys in Green to a comfortable win.
