Killian McGinley made the most of an electric start to the ABARTA Coca-Cola Invitational to capture his first individual collegiate title for Fairfield University.

McGinley raced out of the blocks with a six-under 66 to set the pace in round one, highlighted by four birdies in his first nine holes around Northampton Country Club.

And with a field of 103 golfers teeing-up, try as they might, nobody could catch the Dubliner who added a two-under 70 in round two for an eight-under victory tally and a four stroke win.

The son of Ryder Cup legend Paul McGinley and former Ladies European Tour player Allison, Killian now follows in the footsteps of his proud parents who both captured Division One titles of their own as part of the US college system.

McGinley’s incredible showing led the Fairfield University men’s golf team to tied-second place overall in their final tournament of the regular season.

Fairfield men’s golf now turns its attention to this weekend’s 2023 MAAC Championships, which begin Friday with the first of three days of action from the Palm Course at Walt Disney World Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
