Lauren Walsh showed her class with a superb back nine of 30 to card a three-under 68 in the Esparto Santo Trophy – The World Amateur Team Championships in le Golf National in France.

The Castlewarden native turned in two-over after bogeys on the first, eighth and ninth while she did birdie the 2nd.

However, the two-time Curtis Cup player turned on the style on her way to the clubhouse including four successive birdies in the middle of her back nine.

A birdie on the 10th was followed by four on the spin from the 11th while a dropped shot on 17 was cancelled out by a brilliant closing birdie to lift her to three-over and into the top-28 in the individual leaderboard.

Elm Park’s Anna Foster carded a three-over 74 to drift out to eight-over while Kirkistown’s Beth Coulter is on fourteen-over after a round of 74 of her own.

It leaves Ireland perched inside the top-20 in a share of 18th on nine-over.

Germany hold a four shot advantage heading into the final day on thirteen-under, spearheaded by Helen Briem who shot a 66 to edge into the lead by the minimum on seven-under.
