GOLFPASS is seeking junior golfers from across the U.K. and Ireland for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet and compete against global golf superstar Rory McIlroy.
Golf clubs operating within the U.K. and Ireland are invited to nominate their most promising golfer under the age of 18 and a panel of judges will pick three golfers who will be invited to participate in a golf clinic with McIlroy and his lifetime coach, Michael Bannon.
The clinic will take place in December at the course both McIlroy and Bannon call home, Holywood Golf Club in County Down. Following the clinic, the junior golfers also will be given the opportunity to challenge McIlroy in a closest-to-the-pin contest. The clinic and competition activities will be part of Holywood Golf Club’s launch celebration of its new state-of-the-art Golf Academy and simulators.
The contest will also be awarding the top-20 nominees with a free annual subscription to GolfPass, a comprehensive digital golf membership that delivers exclusive content and benefits.
“I’m delighted to return to Holywood, where I grew up playing golf,” McIlroy said. “It’s exciting to see how the club has embraced technology to create new ways for members and guests to experience the game. It all aligns with my passion for GolfPass, which aspires to do likewise on a global scale.”
McIlroy is the founder of GolfPass and partners with NBC Sports and GOLF Channel on content and promotion. GolfPass was launched in the U.K. and Ireland in June. The membership is designed to make golf more accessible and fun for every golfer via perks and benefits delivered across five pillars – Play, Learn, Shop, Travel and Watch – which are the most-frequent ways golfers engage with the sport.
The selected junior golfers will be provided with a prize package showcasing each GolfPass pillar:
PLAY – challenge McIlroy to a closest-to-the-pin challenge in Holywood GC’s new simulator.
LEARN – swing tips and technique advice from McIlroy and Bannon.
SHOP – McIlroy-signed TaylorMade Golf products and accessories.
TRAVEL – airfare and accommodations are included for the junior golfer, one parent/guardian and the person who submitted the nomination.
WATCH – exclusive GOLFPASS video being produced on-location.
