JR Galbraith is the man to catch after an opening round of 64 gave him a one shot lead at the Palmares Open on the Portuguese Pro Tour.
Galbraith leads on eight-under-par after a bogey-free round with Daniel Mulligan sitting in second place on seven-under.
Galbraith started quick with four birdies in five holes on the front nine before three birdies in four to start his back nine catapulted him into the lead.
He finished strong with a birdie on the par-3 17th on what was a good day for the Irish overall.
Mulligan was also blemish free in his round of 65 while Robert Moran is just three shots off the lead after an opening 67.
Kinsale’s John Murphy warmed up for the Challenge Tour with a two-under 70 in a round that include just four pars.
Murphy found himself four-over after three holes following a double bogey, bogey, bogey start before picking up a shot before the turn.
He birdied the tenth before birdies at 13, 14 and 15 were followed by an eagle at the par-4 16th to get him to three-under, before he bogeyed the last.
Marc Boucher is also on two-under-par.
