Teams will comprise of three PGA Tour pros, and six teams in total, and they’ll compete in 15 regular season Tuesday night matches before the season ending semi-finals and finals.
TGL will air exclusively on ESPN in the United States, but a broadcaster for the UK and Ireland market is yet to be confirmed, however, the first match is due to held at the Sofi Center on the Palm Beach State College campus in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida on January 9.
“Everything I’ve heard about TGL is really intriguing,” said Lowry. “Between Ryder Cups and World Cups, I’ve always enjoyed playing with a partner or for a team.
“It’s great to see golf being creative and trying new things. I imagine this will be a lot of fun.”
Fellow Ryder Cup hero and the man who secured the winning point Fleetwood echoed Lowry’s sentiments. “I have been excited about the TGL since it was announced. Many of my fondest memories in golf have been playing in team competitions.
“With the players who have already been announced along with the names and stature of the ownership groups and investors, the league is in position to showcase our sport in a cool format to a new group of viewers and fans.”
