Castlebar Golf Club, in collaboration with Rob Hogan, Ireland’s own and a two-time world champion, have announced the launch of the Irish Speedgolf Open.

There will be a Women’s, Men’s, Seniors, and Junior section in the tournament, and tee-times will be scheduled between 8.00 am and 10.00 am on both days. The championship is set to take place at Castlebar Golf Club on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th August, and it promises to be an action-packed event filled with thrilling moments and excitement for players and spectators alike.

Speedgolf is a unique and exciting sport that combines the fast-paced action of running with the precision of golf. Competitors race through the course, playing their shots and covering the distance as quickly as possible. The objective is to complete the round in the lowest possible score and time combined. It’s a thrilling challenge that requires both physical and mental prowess, and it’s an incredible spectacle to watch.

The Irish Speedgolf Open promises to be a fantastic event, showcasing the very best of this exciting sport. Players from Ireland and around the world will compete for the championship titles, with prizes and accolades for the winners. Speaking about the launch of the Irish Open Speedgolf Open, Shane Quigley, Captain Castlebar Golf Club said: “We’re thrilled to be hosting this event and bringing the excitement of speedgolf to Ireland. This is a sport that combines fitness, skill, and strategy, and it’s great fun to watch. We can’t wait to see the top speedgolfers in Ireland compete against the best from across the globe at our club and we’re confident that this will be an event to remember.”

Monica Joyce, Ladies Captain, added: “We’re excited to welcome the Irish SpeedGolf Championship to Castlebar Golf Club. This is a sport that truly tests a player’s skills, and it’s amazing to watch how these athletes are able to combine running and golf into one seamless activity. I’m sure this tournament will be a highlight of the year, and I can’t wait to see who takes home the trophy!”

Two-time World speedgolf Champion and the Irish Open organiser, Rob Hogan, said: ” I’ve competed in many speedgolf tournaments around the world, and I can honestly say that the course at Castlebar is one of the most challenging and rewarding that I’ve played. The combination of hills, trees, and water hazards makes it a true test of skill and endurance. I wish all the competitors the very best of luck and I can’t wait to see who comes out on top!
