Kinsale’s John Murphy collected his third US collegiate title after he birdied the first playoff hole to deny Noah Norton the spoils at the Rivermont GCAA Amateur in Georgia.
The Corkonian fired six birdies in a superb Sunday showing of 67 to reach a 12-under par 54-hole tally and had more in the tank to see off Norton in extra holes en route to another win.

The titles are now mounting for the Louisville senior who adds to his victories at the Bearcat Invitational and the Dorado Beach Invitational last season.
That level of play, coupled with his all-round contributions to campus life at Louisville saw him become the first golfer from the university to claim the illustrious Byron Nelson Award earlier this year, which guarantees him a PGA Tour start at next year’s Byron Nelson.
And there was more good news for Ireland’s American dreamers with Oughterard’s Devin Morley claiming a podium finish in third after rounds of 68, 68 and 69 saw him tally an impressive 11-under total.
