BoyleSports has reported that Tom McKibbin is the best backed golfer in the 139-strong field that will tee it up in this week’s Ras Al Khaimah Championship.
The Holywood man finished just four shots adrift in the opening event of the year, the Dubai Desert Classic, when recording a tied-6thfinish and punters are backing the 22-year-old to thrive once again in the Middle East.
Amid fervent rumours of an imminent move to the Saudi-backed LIV Tour, McKibbin is just 16/1 to card a victory in this week’s DP World Tour event, with only last year’s runaway winner Thorbjørn Olesen (10/1), Ryan Fox (14/1) and Patrick Reed (14/1) rated likelier winners by the oddsmakers.
With 10 places up for grabs in the each-way market, Angel Ayora has proven popular at 30/1 to build on two top 6 finishes in December, while Daniel Hillier is a common bet in the BoyleSports Early Payout Market.
Hillier held a one-shot lead at the 54-hole point at the Majlis Course last week, meaning savvy punters who played the Australian in the Early Payout market were deemed winners, despite a late rally by Tyrell Hatton snatching away victory in the final round.
Brian O’Keeffe, spokesperson for BoyleSports, said: “The rumour mill is in full swing, but the LIV reports did nothing to deter a strong showing from Tom McKibbin last week in Dubai and punters are confident the Holywood man can grab more headlines by landing the big prize this week.”
