At -5, Conor O’Rourke is the best-placed of the Irish quartet taking on Royal Norwich in the Clutch Pro Tour’s season-ending Tour Championship heading into the third and final round of the £60,000 event.
An opening 68 saw the K Club’s O’Rourke just one stroke off the lead at the par-73 layout, but two birdies were offset by two bogeys in round two as he backed it up with a level-par effort to remain with an outside chance of topping the leaderboard comprised of the top 108 players in the season’s rankings.
John-Ross Galbraith is next best of the Irish on -2. The Whitehead man birdied his final two holes to sign for a three-under 70 in round two, but it was far from easy as he navigated the six hole stretch from five through 10 in level-par but without making a single par for the six.
Liam Grehan, who opened with a four-under 69 struggled on day two, and his early 76 left him dangerously close to the 50-man cutline. With play suspended and several groups left to complete their second rounds, Grehan currently sits tied for 48th but looks likely to make it through to the final round.
Rowan Lester won’t be around for the final round after a three-over second round having shot level-par on day one. Four bogeys on the spin from the 10th ultimately proved costly for the Hermitage man and having failed to navigate the first stage at DP World Tour Q-School, it’ll be back to the drawing board for 2024.
English duo Jack South and Ryan Evans lead the way at -10, one-stroke clear of fellow countrymen Thomas Thurloway and former European Tour player Ben Evans.
