Sara Byrne and Anna Foster claimed a share of 12th place at the Capio Ogon Trophy on the LET Access Series as they both impressed in the professional ranks.

Foster was making her professional debut in Sweden while Byrne was making her second successive start having finished in a share of sixth last week.

Both players shot final rounds of 76 to finish on four-over, five shots adrift of eventual winner Sofie Kibsgaard Nielsen who grabbed her second win on the LET Access circuit.

Nielsen finished on one-under-par after a day of tough scoring and Elm Park’s Foster was only two shots off the pace with four holes to play but a double bogey six on the par-4 15th and another six on the par-5 16th put paid to her chances.

Both Byrne and Foster will link up with the Irish Women’s team for next week’s European Team CHampionships.

Speaking about her win, Kibsgaard Nielsen said: It means a lot to me to get my second win this season.

“I’ve worked very hard to improve some part of my game the last couple of weeks, and it feels good to finally see it come together again.

“I’m just very proud and happy with this result.”

Kibsgaard Nielsen is no stranger to a play-off on LETAS having lost out to France’s Lucie Andre in Spain at the start of this season so admits it feels extra special to win it this time.

“I’ve tried a play-off many times now and I tried to stay calm through the hole.

“When I had the 10-foot putt to win I had to trust my read and just enjoy the feelings I had.

“It’s so important to me that I take it all in and stay in the present.”
