As swap deals go, Thomas Detry for Brooks Koepka isn’t one that will be seen as equally beneficial to both parties.

Detry will be a LIV golf member this season and he will link up with Dustin Johnson and his 4Aces team.

“Thomas Detry is going to be on the team this year, another Belgian, so excited about that. I think he’s a really good player,” Johnson said.

“I’ve played with him a few times before over the years, and then obviously got to spend a lot of time with him the last three or four days. Really like the kid. He’s a good player, very talented. So looking forward to that.”

Detry will join fellow Belgian Thomas Pieters, Patrick Reed and Johnson after it was reported last week that Harold Varner III would be leaving the 4Aces.

Eleven months ago, Detry finally got over the line to clinch his maiden PGA Tour title at the Waste Management Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale but he will now forego the opportunity to defend his title.

The 33-year-old also finished fourth at the 2024 PGA Championship but his major championship future is already in doubt after he recently slipped outside the top-50 in the Official World Golf Rankings.

One player who will be at the Waste Management Phoenix Open is Koepka after the five-time major champion confirmed on Monday that he would be rejoining the PGA Tour, which he left in 2022 to spend four seasons at LIV Golf.
