Anthony Kim still holds hope that he will make a return to one of the four major championships in the future.

Kim who hasn’t played in one of the four big stage events since 2011 has been playing competitively on LIV Golf and the Asian Tour after making his comeback following a mystery disappearance in 2012.

Kim, who hasn’t made a PGA Tour appearance since 2012, was relegated from LIV last year but did show a glimmer of form towards the end of the Asian Tour season where he made three successive cuts including a tie for fifth at the Saudi International.

The former world number six is buoyed by his end of season form and hopes his exemption into the Asian Tour’s International Series this year can give him the platform to punch his ticket to one of the major championships this year.

“The goal is to get back to playing at the highest level,” Kim said of a possible major return when speaking ahead of the LIV Promotions event in Florida.

“I think when you play against major championship winners week after week you’re forced to get better and it prepares you more for the majors.

“I’ve played in a few majors myself, so I’m looking forward to getting back out there.”

Kim burst onto the scene at the 2008 Ryder Cup beating Sergio Garcia 5&4 in the Sunday singles as USA won at Valhalla.

At the 2009 Masters Kim set the record for most birdies in a round with eleven in the second round, he also has two top five finishes in majors, third at the 2010 Masters and 5th at the 2011 Open Championship.

His return to competitive action with LIV Golf two years ago was a shock to everyone and even though his results ultimately were poor he feels he has a solid footing back in the game.

“I think the first year I was just trying not to shank the ball. Obviously was a few months into golf before I really started getting to play my first event.

“So expectations weren’t high, even though I know what I’m capable of. I think after two years of practicing and playing competitive golf I’ve started to find my footing.

“I think whether it’s this week or next year, it’ll show. Looking forward to keep on working.”
