David Carey will need to summon some of the magic that saw him card an incredible round of 57 in 2019 if he is to keep his PGA TOUR dream alive this week.

Carey has struggled at the First Stage of Qualifying School at Champions Pointe and finds himself four-over-par after successive rounds of 74.

The Castleknock man has carded three double bogeys across his first two rounds leaving him languishing in 76th position, ten shots off the cut mark which would see the top-21 and ties advance to stage two.

Carey started well with an opening birdie but double bogeys on the par-3 2nd and par-4 5th left him with a mountain to climb although he did stop the bleeding with two birdies and a bogey to complete his front nine.

His back nine was solid wit just one bogey on the par-4 13th and a birdie at the par-4 17th, but what will frustrate him is that despite his length he could only par the four par-5s.

Six-under-par is the current mark for the top-21 through 36 holes with Drew Doyle leading the way on thirteen-under-par.
