Graeme McDowell surpassed the $5,000,000 mark in LIV Golf earnings on Sunday despite registering just one top-10 finish in two years on the Saudi backed breakaway tour.
McDowell’s best individual finish is tenth place which came all the way back in June 2022 at the inaugural LIV Golf event in London.
The 2010 US Open champion was one of the first golfers to move to the controversial breakaway tour but has struggled to make an impression, finishing 39th out of the 48 players in last year’s season long standings.
In his 21 events he and his Cleeks team have struggled regularly and he hasn’t posted a top-10 in his thirteen events in this campaign.
This season, McDowell finished 42nd in the 50-player table, just three places above the LIV individual player ‘drop zone.’
The 44-year-old recently said: “I see a world where we put our differences behind us. LIV proceeds and is a recognized tour, and the PGA Tour DP World Tours proceed as recognized tours and we all live in the ecosystem together.
“Whether we merge or don’t merge, as long as we respect each other for what we’re doing, I can see a world where we all get along and hopefully that means being part of the Ryder Cup ecosystem.”
