Stephanie Meadow has put to bed a string of missed cuts to ignite her tournament chances at the Marathon Classic in Ohio.
The Jordanstown professional has never shied away from a challenge and languishing on the cut-line after an even par effort on Thursday, today was always going to prove a test in mental strength for the struggling pro.
No surprise then that Meadow rose to the challenge, blitzing Highland Meadows Golf Club with five birdies in a bogey-free effort that currently puts her just outside the top-10 at five-under par.
Having found 14 of 18 greens in regulation, Meadow got hot with the short-stick, needing just 27 putts in a performance that should see the Northern Irishwoman brimming with confidence ahead of what could prove a season-altering weekend in Ohio, with her best finish so far this season a tied 40th finish at the Founders Cup back in March.
With half the field still to complete their second rounds, Meadow is currently four shots back of leader Lexi Thompson who added a 67 to her opening 66 to top the board at nine-under par.
