St Anne’s Cameron Raymond rediscovered some of his exciting form of last year to catapult up the leaderboard at the GolfCatcher Championship at Dudsbury Golf Club.

Raymond romped up the board with his seven-birdie six-under salvo the round of the day in England. It saw Raymond join Shannon’s Daniel Brennan in a tie for 12th at three-under par after Brennan added a solid one-under 70 to his day one 69 to advance to the final round.

Brennan burst from the traps with three birdies in his first four holes before a bogey at five was followed by a clean sweep of pars as he claimed a share of 21st spot overnight.

Also safely through to the last day is Clandeboye’s Jonathan Caldwell who added an even par effort to his opening 70 to remain at one-under par.

With the cut falling at even, Kilkenny’s Luke Donnelly narrowly missed out on Friday’s action. Two-over par today, Donnelly’s plus one total was one too many to advance.

Also missing out was Naas pro Conor O’Rourke (+3) despite a much improved two-under par 69 in round two while Whitehead’s John Ross Galbraith (+5 – 76/71), Old Conna’s Neil O’Briain (+6 – 78/70), Ballymena’s Dermot McElroy (+9 – 79/72) and Northern Ireland’s Owen Crooks (+9 – 76/75) also fell short of the mark.

At the top, Marco Penge goes into the final day of The GolfCatcher Championship leading by three shots over Thomas Curtis at Dudsbury Golf Club.
