Graeme McDowell survived the weekend cut on the number as Seamus Power missed out by one at the Valspar Championship at Palm Harbour in Florida.
Playing for his PGA Tour future, McDowell will need to produce something special on moving day to get back into tournament contention after carding a one-over par 72 to drop back into a share of 49th at one-over par.
GMac carded three birdies but also four dropped shots and given his sponsors’ exemptions are beginning to wear thin, simply making the cut will no longer do if the Northern Irishman’s American Dream is to live on into next season.
Another man under pressure is West Waterford’s Power who missed out by a single stroke on the weekend action.
One-over to the turn, Power battled bravely playing his next five in minus-four but two further bogeys, one of which came crucially at his 18th, saw him miss out on the weekend’s play by one agonising stroke at two-over par.
At the top, defending champion, Paul Casey leads the way alongside American Austin Cook at six-under par at the halfway stage.
