Leona Maguire fell one day short of seeing a grinding week through to the finish after failing to make the final day cut at the ISPS Handa Vic Open at 13th Beach Club.
With conditions proving much more brutal on moving day with driving winds wreaking havoc on the field, the Cavan star struggled to a two-over par 74 on the Beach course that saw her fall short of the magic number by a single stroke at two-over par.
Looking at her statistics, you would suspect that Maguire will be spending plenty of time on the practice putting green over the next few weeks after averaging 32 putts per round for her three day’ play.
Still, the former world amateur number one will be satisfied that even without her A-game, and having taken an uncharacteristic 66 putts over three days, that such is the level of her play, she still only fell one shy of the final day cut mark.
Maguire, now a fully-fledged member of the Ladies European Tour, is expected to play two LET events following the tournament at 13th Beach Golf Club – the Australian Ladies Classic at Bonville (Feb 21-24) and the ActewAGL Canberra Classic at Royal Canberra GC (Mar 1-3).
