Seamus Power took another big step towards retaining his PGA Tour on Sunday in the Barracuda Championship in Reno.
It was a nervy front nine as Power dropped shots on his first two holes at Montreux Golf & Country Club.
Starting the day in a tie for 14th Power found himself starting his back nine in a tie for 46th and projected to stay just outside the top 125 who will keep their cards after the Wyndham Championship in two weeks’ time.
However Power turned his fortunes around and birdied his 13th hole and then a sensational eagle on his 72nd hole. A 397 yard drive left Power 185 yards from the hole and he found the heart of the green and drained the 30 foot eagle putt.
The final hole eagle got Power a five point score in the Modified Stableford event and moved the West Waterford man up from a tie of 42nd to a tie for 26th but most importantly moved him up to 123 on the FedEx Cup rankings, just two places into the magic 125 cut off for 2018 PGA Tour Cards.
