A short while after the incredible scenes at Royal Birkdale, Seamus Power was quietly going about his Sunday afternoon business at the Barbasol Championship and securing himself a top 20 finish.
Having opened with rounds of 68, 70 Power found himself in position to perform well over the weekend, something that unfortunately hasn’t been his strong suit this season. However a round of 64 on Saturday boosted him 30+ places up the leaderboard by Saturday night and he was T11 heading into the final round on Sunday, eight shots behind leader Scott Stalling.
Power’s final round got off to a great start on Sunday as he birdied the first but a bogey on 6 followed by a birdie on 8 saw him reach the turn in 34 strokes. However, while a tilt at the title wasn’t on the cards a Top 20 finish was and Power birdied 12 and 16 before a bogey on 17 and returned a -2 score of 69 to leave him in T18 place overall and earn him almost $43,000.
