Emma Fleming bowed out with an 18th hole loss at the last-16 stage of the Spanish Ladies Amateur Championship, bringing an end to Irish interest at Sotogrande.

Fleming was the only Irishwoman to advance to the last-16 after a round of 32 win over Carlota Carmona Rodriguez which saw the Elm Park star emerge a 1UP winner after going the distance.

In the afternoon, the shoe was on the other foot after she fell to a 1 hole defeat against Frenchwoman Elea Bastoni.

In the morning last-32 matches, Aideen Walsh, Anna Dawson and Kate Lanigan were all beaten.

Walsh went down 6&4 to Elizabeth Wilson of England as Dawson and Lanigan both lost 4&3.
