Michael Darcy was the winner of the Munster Veteran Men’s Open Championship. The event took place at Castlemartyr Golf Club on 24 August which saw 30 men compete over 18 holes of stroke play.

The Oughterard golfer shot a round of 74 to take the title. He finished two strokes clear of a quartet of golfers on +4. Kinsale’s Jerry Crean finished in second place after a countback, while Enda Quigley (Powerscourt) finished in third. David Brabazon (Balbriggan) finished in fourth and Richard Joyce (Oughterard) in fifth place.

Tramore’s John Mitchell won the category 65+ prize with a score of 77. Patrick Higgins (Grange) won the category 70+ prize after also posting a round of 77.
