Paul Conroy looks set to battle for his second collegiate win of the season after a superb opening 67 at the Tiger Inv. by Jason Dufner.
Conroy shares the lead on five-under alongside Brendan Valdes and Robbie Latter.
The Enniscorthy native was in sensational form, racing out of the traps with three birdies in succession before adding two more on the seventh and ninth to turn in 31.
Conroy, who has a win and a hole in one at the Wolfpack Intercollegiate this season, dropped a shot on 11 but regained it with a birdie on 12 to return to the summit.
The Chattanooga student’s performances Stateside have been impressive with two further top-10 finishes in the fall season.
