Julie McCarthy added a two-under par 70 to her career-low 66 of round one to maintain a share of the lead at the Clemson Invitational at The Reserve at Lake Keowee.
The Tigers star from Swords carded four birdies in all and shares top spot in the individual championship alongside Tennessee’s Micheala Williams at eight-under par heading into Tuesday’s final round.
The No. 14 Auburn women’s golf team had put together their best round of the season on Sunday with a 278 (-10) in the first round but they couldn’t replicate the feat with a 285 (-3) in round two and now trail Vanderbilt who have jumped to the front by eight shots at 21-under par.
