Annabel Wilson finds herself just two shots off the lead after day one of the Italian International Ladies’ Amateur Championship at Is Molas Golf Club.
The Lurgan teenager returned a superb even par 72 and sits in a share of 5th spot heading into day two of the 72-hole strokeplay event.
And there was more good news for Ireland as Castlewarden’s Lauren Walsh signed for a three-over par 75 to move inside the top-20 and just five shots off top spot.
There will be a cut made after 54-holes with the final round to be played on Saturday, March 23.However, Lisburn’s Paul Grant will have her work cut out to make it after carding a 10-over par 82 this afternoon.
Grant had been hoping to bounce back after a neck injury forced her withdrawal from last month’s Spanish Amateur in Seville and perhaps the niggling injury is leaving its mark this time around too.
ILGU High Performance Manager David Kearney has travelled with the three High Performance panellists for the duration of the event.
