Holywood teenager Tom McKibbin superbly jumped nine places to be inside the top-6 heading to the final round of the 2019 Boy’s Junior Orange Bowl Championship at Coral Cables in Florida.
McKibbin, 15 produced the equal second lowest round on day three in signing for four-under par 67 on the Biltmore course to the south of Miami.
McKibbin brilliantly capped his round with three straight ‘3s’ at the fourth, fifth and sixth holes while also managing to birdie the par-5 opening hole along with a birdie at the par-4 17th.
His only disappointment was letting slip matching the best round of the day after taking a bogey at the last.
McKibbin heads into the final day of the prestigious amateur event sharing sixth place and having made the biggest jump of the day of nine spots getting him back to level par.
He trails the leading duo of American Alex Vogelsong and Italy’s Andrea Romano who both sit at 10-under.
The French-born Vogelsong had led the first two days but a third day 70 that included four birdies but also three bogeys saw him joined in the lead by Romano.
Romano brilliantly ended his day’s work in birding the closing four holes.
The duo are five shots clear of England’s Barclay Brown (67) at five-under par.
