Olivia Mehaffey will tee it up at this week’s US Women’s Open after a last minute withdrawal.

Mehaffey missed out at qualifying earlier this month by a single shot at Arizona Country Club but was down as first reserve for the tournament which will be played at Shoal Creek in Alabama this week.

The 20 year old received the much-awaited phone call to confirm her place last night and was obviously overjoyed at the opportunity as she updated her Twitter profile with the following.
“So happy to get a call yesterday to find out I’m in the field for this years US Open, Excited for this amazing opportunity and experience”

Mehaffey is a second year student at Arizona State University, has teed it up in major competition before. She played in both the 2016 and 2017 RICOH Women’s British Open tournaments, missing the cut by three shots on both occasions.

Currently ranked as number 20 in the World Amateur Golf rankings, Mehaffey is due to make her second appearance for Team GB&I in the Curtis Cup at Quaker Ridge, New York from June 8-10.

Best of luck from all at IGM Olivia.
