There was no joy for Lisa and Leona Maguire as Duke University were knocked out at the quarter-finals stage of the NCAA Division One Championship in Oklahoma by the University of Southern California.
Leona got her Blue Devils side off to a great start with a 1UP win in the top match but that proved to be their only victory, with Lisa going down 4&2 as Duke succumbed to a 3½ to 1½ loss against USC.
Leona had earlier in the week finished in a share of 13th when qualifying for the quarter finals in her last amateur event.
She brings her remarkable Duke career to a close having racked up 87 career rounds of even par or under – a Duke record and the second most in NCAA history. Her 70.97 career scoring average is also the lowest in NCAA history for golfers that participated in 100 or more rounds. The two-time National Player of the Year also collected an impressive 10 career wins, 24 top five finishes, 36 top 10 placements and 39 top 20 finishes
