Sun Devil women’s golf sophomore Olivia Mehaffey has been named in the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup international team as announced Wednesday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
The Ryder Cup-style competition will take place July 6-8 at Evian Resort Golf Club in France and will feature a United States men’s and women’s collegiate team vs. international collegiate teams on each side.
There were no other Irish players selected on either the mane’s or womens’ teams and Mehaffey becomes the first women’s golfer from Arizona State to play in the Palmer Cup but joins fellow Sun Devils on the men’s side including, most recently, Jon Rahm in 2014.
Mehaffey is currently No. 12 in the World Women’s Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR), recently earned co-medalist honors at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge, and was added to the ANNIKA Award Watch List in spring 2018.
Ranking selections on the women’s side for the U.S. and International teams are below. The teams will also joined by coach’s picks, and the R&A Foundation Scholars Tournament Champion, to be determined at a later date.
