There were a couple of local winners at the National Siblings Competition held in Kilmashogue Golf Club, Rathfarnham. Despite last years’ winners returning to defend their titles, it was all new winners this year with Grange Castle and Kilmashogue among the prizes.
Colin Bell (Kilmashogue) and Des Bell ( Druids Heath) along with Kilmashogue GC Captain Tom Culligan and Lady Captain Eileen Hickey.
Players from 23 clubs took part in the 3 different competitions sponsored by Capital Credit Union at the recent National Siblings Tournament. Captain Tom Culligan said “We had siblings from as far away as Galway, Leitrim, Kildare and Kilkenny along with a lot of entries from the local clubs around Dublin.”
In the Brother and Sister Section, Michael Horan (Highfield) and Jackie Horan (Old Conna) were the winners while in the sisters’ competition, Cathy Quinn (Grange Castle) and Marie Quinn (Bray) held off local past captains Elaine and Deirdra Healy from Kilmashogue GC.
Brothers Colin Bell (Kilmashogue) and Des Bell (Druids Heath) clinched the Brothers trophy in what was their first time entering the competition.
Lady Captain Eileen Hickey said, “The Siblings competition in Kilmashogue GC, Rathfarnham is the only open tournament in Ireland for siblings to play together and we are delighted to host it for the fourth time”.
