Skerries Maria Dunne showed a clean pair of heels to the rest of the field as she took the Woodbrook Scratch Cup by four shots.
On a very difficult weather day 43 competitors travelled to take part in the 36-hole scratch cup which got underway at 7:30am on Sunday. Deirdre Smith (County Louth) was the first round leader, returning a +1 round of 75, with Dunne lying one shot back on +2.
Dunne, had endured an unusually difficult time at the recent Helen Holm Scottish Open but seemed determined to make up for that blip at Woodbrook as she took the event by storm in the second round as she carded a one under 73 with Smith relegated to second place after a 78 and Shannon Burke (Maynooth) in third place following rounds of 80 and 74.
Dunne now moves onto the Welsh Amateur this week, along with 9 other Irish players, and we wish her and them all the best.
