Ireland draw as England dominate at boys Home Ints

It was day one of the Boys Home internationals yesterday as the Irish boys looked to get things going in their direction at St. Annes in North West England.

Holders England won seven and halved one of the ten afternoon singles to inflict an 11-4 defeat on Wales while Ireland faced Scotland in their opening match and it finished in a tie with the score 7.5-7.5.
 
In the morning foursomes Ireland took the lead 3-2 with victories for Mark Power & Jack Hearn (2 holes), Reece Black & Robert Moran(4&2) and Raymond Cameron & Ross Kelly 2&1. John Brady & Eoin Murphy went down 2&1 while Jack Doherty & Charlie Denver were beaten by two holes.
 
In the afternoon, weather affected play with a 75 minute rain delay and in the singles Mark Power led the team from the front with a one hole victory and Reece Black also won his match 4&2. Aaron Marshall opened his account with a 3&1 win while Robert Moran enjoyed a huge 6&5 victory and Raymond Cameron halved his match.
 
Jack Hearn went down 5&4 in the singles and he was joined by John Brady 3&2, Eoin Murphy 4&3, Jack Doherty (1 hole) and Charlie Denver 4&2 as Scotland put on a comeback in the second half of the draw to take 2.5 of the final 3 points in the afternoon.
 
The Irish team take on a dominant and defending England team today while Wales take on Scotland.
